Artist Statement

My work takes a critical view on social, political and cultural issues.

In my project, I deconstruct the African dream, fairy tales, nursery rhymes, and lullabies that are part of our childhood and adult culture blended into one with the representation of color.

Having engaged subjects as diverse as the civil rights movement, lifestyle in politics, music and modernist architecture, my work reproduces familiar visual signs, arranging them into new conceptually layered pieces.

Oftentimes, these themes are combined with earthly colors exposed in my portraits, that feature mundane public figures juxtaposed with colorful lines representing the liveliness of the portraits, and often embellished with a down to earth, calm ambiance.

The subject matter in each body of work determines the materials used and the forms of the work.

I am a qualified copywriter, having studied with AAA school of advertising from 2011, graduating in 2013.

I have been doing graffiti for 11 years now and still running.
